The Fox Valley Land Foundation is a private, non-profit
conservation organization founded in 1992 as a land trust to protect natural
lands and open space in the Fox River Valley in northeastern Illinois.
Our Mission
To protect, restore and preserve significant natural lands and open spaces
through public and private partnerships.
Our Goals
To permanently protect land through conservation easements and other
strategies.
To responsibly steward our easements and other significant natural lands
through management and restoration.
To educate and inform landowners, developers, public officials, relevant
professionals and the general public about land conservation.
Land we have preserved
Conservation easements preserve public and private land from
Carpentersville in northern Kane County to Plano in Kendall County.
Sleepy Hollow Ravine was saved as a portion of a 41-acre commercial
development through a partnership with the developer, Grand Victoria
Foundation, the City of Elgin and Kane County.
Raceway Woods, a high quality ecosystem with multiple owners,
is being restored with the help of Army Corps of Engineer V.S. funds
administered by Fox Valley Land Foundation.
Programs
Stewardship of our own easements and high quality natural areas,
including fens from Crystal Lake to St. Charles. Volunteers are trained to
participate in this restoration work.
Student Stewardship Program, an environmental education program
targeting 6th
grade students that will assure stewards of the land for the future.
Railroad Prairies in Kane County and adjoining counties. We have
agreements with the railroads to have access to the areas for stewardship.
If you believe that there are places of natural beauty and significance
in the Fox River Valley, which are worthy of conservation, please support
our efforts. Fox Valley Land Foundation is a sponsor member of the Land
Trust Alliance. |
