About Conservation 2000 |
|
In 1995 the Illinois General Assembly initiated Conservation 2000,
(C2000) a comprehensive, six year, $100 million initiative, designed
to take a holistic, long-term approach to protecting and managing
Illinois' natural resources. With overwhelmingly positive support
for the program, in 1999, Governor George Ryan signed House Bill
1746 in to legislation in August of 1999 extending the C2000 Program
until the year 2009. |
The Conservation
2000 Program funds nine programs across three state natural resource
agencies:
Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR): Ecosystem
Programs (list with map of
State Ecosystem Partnerships), Critical Trend Assessment Program, Professional Scientists
Monitoring, Review of Illinois Water Law, Illinois Natural Resources
Information Network
Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA): Conservation
Practices Cost-Share Program, Sustainable Agriculture Grants
Program, Soil & Water Conservation District Program Development,
Expansion Grants, Streambank Stabilization and Restoration Program
Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA): Illinois
Clean Lakes Program |
