Ecological Services, Inc. (AES)
As one of the leading
ecological sciences firms in the U.S., AES specializes in ecological analysis,
ecological restoration, monitoring sciences, and education, with specialists in
wetland plant propagation, environmental mensuration, stream restoration,
wetland mitigation and mitigation banking, and in the design, creation,
restoration and management of natural areas.
AES was founded in 1978 by Mr. Steven Apfelbaum with the objective to
design well conceived environmental restoration projects that meet the
objectives of both the client and the regulatory requirements.
In addition to the firm’s consulting services, AES has the capability
to draw upon the resources of the Taylor Creek Restoration Nurseries. Taylor Creek is a full service nursery for native seeds and
seedlings of the prairies, woodlands and wetlands, including contract growing
services. AES also has a full
service contracting division that implements restoration construction,
management, monitoring and research projects.
AES has a full time staff of 55 highly qualified individuals supplemented
by up to 30 seasonal employees that are available for AES consulting projects
and construction work.
AES develops
resource management plans for municipalities, federal and state agencies and
private clients. AES regards
resource management, land reclamation, and ecosystem restoration projects as
serious and creative acts of environmental stewardship.
We design creative, cost effective programs that are definitive and
environmentally sound. First we
gather relevant data that characterizes the environmental conditions at a
project site. After review of this
data, plans are prepared for the property.
As part of management planning we often design monitoring programs to
determine management prescriptions as well as the effectiveness of the
restoration installation. Management
planning and restoration services are performed in an appropriate time context
after discussion with clients and exploration of applicable regulations.
