is currently no more news of FY08 grants being announced and currently
there is doubt about FY08 grants being awarded. If you have questions,

Small Grants due February 28, 2008 As an additional item of information, applicants
are encouraged to emphasize the community engagement aspects of their
project when relevant. For example, this could include highlighting
the expected number of communities served, communities impacted, or
citizens engaged. |
| Trail Grants: Applications are being accepted through March 1 for Illinois Bicycle Path Program, Off-Highway Vehicle Program, and federal Recreational Trails Program grants. Wildlife
Preservation Fund Grants due
April 1, 2008: two
grant programs administered through the
IDNR Office of Resource Conservation Division of Natural Heritage. The
Illinois Wildlife Preservation Fund Small Project Program proposals
are open to all persons and may address many types of projects including
management, site inventories, education or special equipment purchases.
Examples of past projects include wildlife habitat improvement, species
enhancement, education and research projects throughout the state
focusing on species ranging from birds to turtles - and habitat ranging
from forests to prairies. Individual proposals are eligible for up to
$2,000 from the Wildlife Preservation Fund. Proposals are also being accepted
for the Illinois Wildlife Preservation
Fund Maintenance of Wildlife Rehabilitation Facilities That Take Care of
Threatened or Endangered Species Program. |

| The Enhancing the States’ Lake Management Programs 21st Annual Conference will be held April 29 – May 2, 2008, in downtown Chicago at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. This year’s theme is “Building Partnerships for Improved Fisheries and Lake Water Quality.” Four pre-conference workshops on April 29 and 30 include topics and learning opportunities that can be applied to a wide range of environmental efforts. The workshops are: Key EPA Internet Tools for Watershed Management, What Makes Lakes Tick: It’s Not as Simple as it Seems, Ready or Not: Writing and Editing Tips for Environmental Professionals, and The Human Side of Lake Management: Using Social Indicators to Understand Lake Audiences and Develop Effective Management Interventions.
