| UPDATE: EPA 319 FY11 Grant Package from the Fox
River Watershed |
Illinois EPA is nearing completion of the new grant
application for the Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Nonpoint
Source Pollution Control Program. It is anticipated that the
Request for Proposals (overview/background document), Financial
Assistance Application, and Instructions will be posted on
Illinois EPA’s website on May 1, 2010.
The Application will be in the form of a writable PDF (Adobe 8.0
or higher needed) and will guide applicants through the required
information using a combination of such things as text boxes and
tables to fill in, check boxes, drop down lists, and web links
to various tools and reports. Illinois EPA will post a
Frequently Asked Questions section on their website as well.
If you would like FREP’s Water Resources Committee to review
your draft 319 application and provide comments and
recommendations, please send an electronic copy to Deanna
Doohaluk, Chair of the Water Resources Committee, no later than
Monday, May 17, 2010 (e-mail:
ddoohaluk@heyassoc.com; ph: 773-792-8510 x13).

| FREP Website News |
We announced the completely NEW FREP Website -
HERE - in last month's E-Downstream.
We continue to welcome the assistance of
FREP members and friends to help build the
information, resources, and links on the Website by sending your
suggested information to Becky Hoag at
foxriverinfo@comcast.net
Some areas we'd really appreciate your help
(links to the pages in bold):
FREP Member Profiles - dues-paying FREP
members are welcome to submit a profile for these pages. Email a brief description, contact information, and a logo.
FREP News & Activities - We are happy to
share news of other activities and programs in the Watershed on
this page, and include them in our monthly Downstream.
Subwatersheds - much of the information on
the old site was outdated. One of FREP's goals is to promote
activity and stewardship within the subwatersheds of the Fox.
The main subwatersheds are listed on this page, with currently
available information. There are other small subwatershed that
may not be even listed here. Please contact us if you have
information to share or interest in a particular subwatershed.
Green Resources - links currently on this
page are just a start. There are boundless other resources we
could share. Please email us your favorite "green" links. |
Rain Garden Initiative - Thanks to a grant from the
Kane County Riverboat Grant Program, FREP has been able to
establish the Kane County Rain Garden Initiative. Because rain
gardens benefit the entire watershed, the resources on these
pages are for all.
Rain Garden Registry - We are especially
eager to build a database of rain gardens that exist, are being
built, or are planned for in the Fox watershed. Visit the page
link and complete and return the form to include your rain
garden in this registry. |

Catbird Seat: The Past, Present, and Future of Biological
Resources in a Changing Environment
Published by the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS), the

the changes in biological communities and landscapes, the
